Social NET Consulting (SNC) is proud to announce the publication of a new peer-reviewed article by our Co-Founder, Tilahun Kifle Ergete, in the May 2026 issue of Urbanities – Journal of Urban Ethnography.
The article, titled "Thresholds of Arrival: An Ethiopian Reflexive Ethnography in Mumbai," offers a fresh, South-to-South comparative analysis of urban life. While traditional research often treats the initial phase of fieldwork as a minor logistical step, Tilahun’s study reframes the "threshold of arrival" into a vital site for methodological insight.
By juxtaposing the nocturnal rhythms of Addis Ababa with the relentless infrastructure of Mumbai, the paper demonstrates how field disorientation—when analyzed through moral economies and human infrastructure—can serve as a powerful tool for deeper social inquiry.
This publication reflects the core methodology that drives SNC’s research ethos: applying rigorous, reflexive ethnographic approaches to understand complex human realities across the Global South.
