Sisay is a passionate disability rights advocate. As vision impaired, he knows first-hand the Experiences of living with a disability. He has dedicated his career to helping others with a disability, see their potential through teaching, policy advocacy and collaboration. Apart from his fifteen years of work experience in teaching, Sisay has been engaged for more than eight years (Dec. 2015to date) in promoting disability inclusion through engaging in works of:
·       Conducting lobby and advocacy to ensure the inclusion of PWDs in food and nutrition security programs, agricultural research centers and extension programs, cooperatives and self-help groups, as well as services of microfinance and banks 
·       Conducting awareness raising training on international and national disability inclusive legal and policy instruments such as the UNCRPD and ADP
·       Leading inclusive education programs 
·       Designing innovative solutions for inclusion 
·       Building the capacity of local and international NGOs on matters of disability inclusion 
·       Conducting research and participatory audit that enhance the inclusion of older people and persons with disabilities both in development and humanitarian works, 
·       And managing disability focused projects. 

He has experience of working in national OPDs (organization of persons with disabilities), local NGOs, consultancy firms, and international NGOs. In 2020 he participated as one of the Lead researchers in conducting evaluation of UNICEF’s program of right, education and protection in countries of South East Asia. He also worked as team member of a feasibility study conducted to assess on the provision of quality, equitable and inclusive education in Ethiopia, Niger and Burkina Faso. In 2022, he also developed an advocacy paper that quests for the formulation of sector policy on disability inclusive education in Ethiopia. He is fluent in English and Amharic and holds a Master’s (Leadership and Management) and a BA (History).
